TripCull Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 9, 2026

TripCull is made by Mahuri Technologies LLC ("we," "our," or "us"). This policy explains what TripCull does with your information. The short version: your photos never leave your phones, TripCull has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and we can't read anything your phones send each other.

1. Your photos

TripCull asks for access to your photo library so it can compare the photos taken in a date range you choose with your paired partner's phone. That analysis happens entirely on your phone. Your photos are never uploaded to us, to our relay service, or to anyone else.

TripCull only deletes photos when you select them and confirm, followed by your phone's own deletion prompt, and only from the phone you're holding -- it can never delete photos on your partner's phone. Deleted photos can be restored for 30 days: on iPhone from the Recently Deleted album, and on Android 11 or later from the trash. (Android 10 and earlier have no trash, so deletion there is permanent.)

2. Camera

The camera is used only to scan the pairing code shown on your partner's phone. Camera frames are processed on the phone to read the code and are not saved or sent anywhere.

3. What your phones send each other

To pair and compare, your two phones exchange messages through a relay service we run on Amazon Web Services. These messages are end-to-end encrypted with keys only your two phones hold, so neither we nor Amazon can read them. They contain:

  • each phone's device name (for example, "Pixel 7 Pro"), so you can tell paired phones apart;
  • the date range to compare;
  • for each photo in that range, a compact summary used for matching: a numeric fingerprint of the image's content, its capture time, pixel dimensions, whether it's a favorite, and quality scores computed on the phone -- never the photo itself.

The relay only passes these messages between the two phones. It keeps short-lived connection and session records that use random identifiers and expire automatically within 24 hours, and operational logs that contain only those random identifiers. The relay does not record your IP address in its logs or store message contents.

4. Moving favorites between iPhones

If you choose to move favorite photos from one iPhone to the other, they're sent directly between the phones with AirDrop, Apple's device-to-device sharing. They don't pass through our relay or our servers.

5. Information stored on your phone

TripCull stores your paired devices and any unfinished favorite moves on your phone so they survive restarts. This stays on the phone and is removed when you unpair a device or delete the app.

6. What we don't do

  • No accounts or sign-in.
  • No advertising, analytics or tracking, and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
  • We don't sell, rent or share your information.

If you've chosen to share crash reports with Apple or Google in your phone's settings, those platforms may share anonymized crash reports with us to help fix bugs.

7. Children

TripCull is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

8. Your choices

You can turn off TripCull's photo or camera access at any time in your phone's settings, unpair a device in the app, or delete the app to remove everything it stored. Because we don't hold personal information about you, there's nothing for us to export or delete -- but if you have questions, contact us below.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change how TripCull handles information, we'll update this page and the "Last Updated" date above. Changes that send more information off your phone will be described in the app before they take effect.
