WorldLens Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 20, 2026

This policy covers the WorldLens mobile app, published by Mahuri Technologies LLC ("we," "our," or "us"). It supplements our general privacy policy and takes precedence for WorldLens.

WorldLens has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no backend server of our own. We do not receive, store, or have any access to your location or your saved places.

1. Location

WorldLens requests precise location access (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION on Android, Core Location on iOS) to center the map on where you are and to work out your home time zone and currency, so places you look up can be compared against them.

Your device location is used on your device only. It is never sent to us and never stored on any server we operate, because we operate none.

2. Third-party services that receive a location

When you tap a point on the map or pick a search result — which may or may not be where you are — the app sends that point's coordinates to third-party APIs to fetch what it shows for that point:

  • OpenWeatherMap — current weather
  • Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) — place name and address, and search results for text you type
  • Open-Meteo — elevation
  • CARTO — the map tiles themselves, rendered from OpenStreetMap data
  • open.er-api.com — exchange rates. This request carries only currency codes, never your coordinates.

These requests carry only what is needed to answer the query. We attach no account, name, email, or device identifier to them, and none of these providers are used by us to build a profile of you. Each provider handles the request under its own privacy policy.

3. Saved places

Places you save are stored in a database on your device, and — so the home-screen widget can read them — in an app-group container that is also local to your device. This never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

4. Advertising

WorldLens shows a single native ad in the location detail view, served through Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). The SDK collects device identifiers and similar signals to deliver ads, cap how often you see the same one, and detect fraud.

WorldLens requests non-personalized ads only. The app does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission on iOS and therefore has no access to the advertising identifier (IDFA), and it sends a non-personalized flag with every ad request on both platforms. Nothing the app collects is used to track you across other companies' apps or websites, or to build an advertising profile of you.

Google's own handling of ad requests is governed by Google's privacy policy.

5. Children's privacy

WorldLens is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will remove it.

6. Your choices

You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; WorldLens still works, and you can tap or search for places manually. Uninstalling the app removes every piece of data it has stored. Both Android and iOS also offer system-level controls for resetting or limiting ad personalization.

7. Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and the "Last Updated" date above.
